As an example of Corporate Social Responsibility, one may consider construction companies; they should be more socially liable for the byproducts they produce. It is due to this major industry that many of the matters being grouped under the title of CSR are or major consideration. However, there are certain issues that are not being acknowledged distinctively as social compulsions. Due to this, Ethics, Human Rights, Community, Environment and Employee relations being compromised. Not only does this industry need to be socially aware, as there are other industries as well that need to adopt standardized means of preventing pollution of any kind (Canadian Chemical Producers’ Association, 2001).
The Business Case for CSR The Benefits
The probable benefits of CSR for construction companies comprise: improved repute, viable edge, better risk management and a more dedicated and proficient labor force, all of which could have a substantial effect on profits. In asserting this, it should not be forgotten that practicing greater liability could have on society and the environment is important.
Applying CSR:
All businesses can promote ’stakeholder dialogue’, which means defining and talking to groups and individuals that have an effect on, and are sequentially affected by, a company’s operations. Other ways of impending CSR depend on the dimension of the company under consideration. Focusing on the construction industry, one might assert that there is need to emphasize on existing business aims and policies that make understandable social responsibility by producing plans and value statements to show the ways in which you and your staff try to evaluate (Winsemius and Guntram, 2002).
